Description
Kilsby Cottage is located close to Llanwrtyd Wells (the smallest town in Britain) in the midst of one of the last remaining truly unspoilt areas of the UK within easy reach of the Eppynt Hills and Brecon Beacons. The Cottage provides high standard, comfortable self-catering accommodation for 4 people. A travel-cot and/or fold-up bed can be provided for additional children or a 5th adult. At just over a mile away the town's welcoming pubs and restaurants are within walking distance.
Contact the owners directly on 01591-610281 for details of flexible start dates and duration.
The cottage itself offers comfort and warmth, it has been refurbished to 4* standard and is fully equipped including free WiFi internet access and satellite TV. Central heating with individually controlled radiators provides the cosiness you would expect year round. The cottage is tastefully furnished with magnificent views from almost every room. The kitchen is fully equipped for all of your culinary needs should home cooking be on the menu, alternatively you can wander down to the local pubs and restaurants which serve good food and real ale. Breakfast is usually available as an optional extra in the main house at Kilsby - please ask for details.
Outside there is a reserved secure off-road parking space, outdoor seating with access to the extensive gardens to the front and side of the property rich in wildlife and with spectacular views of the upper Irfon Valley. A small portable barbecue and garden furniture are provided for your use. Numerous bird-feeders are regularly replenished so you can enjoy the extensive variety of birds at close quarters - you may even be lucky enough to see our pied fly-catchers or redstarts using the nesting boxes. The setting is quiet and secluded yet within easy reach of the town and all of its amenities.
Llanwrtyd Wells is a small town in the parish of Llanwrtyd in Powys, Mid Wales, lying in the Upper Irfon Valley. The area is renowned for excellent salmon, trout, grayling and coarse fishing with the rivers Wye and Usk within easy reach as well as the Irfon. Expert advice on local fishing is available from the owner and the Wye & Usk Foundation.
Llanwrtyd Wells grew as a spa town, based around the Ffynnon Ddrewllyd spring, which still exists. Nowadays the area is more well known for its pony trekking, mountain biking, fishing, walking and bird watching together with its annual Man versus Horse Marathon, Beer Festival and World Bog Snorkelling Championship which are frequently reported in national media.
Unlike many small towns in rural Wales, Llanwrtyd station still has a passenger train service. Heart of Wales Line trains run between Swansea and Shrewsbury call four times a day each way Monday to Saturday and twice each way on Sunday with occasional steam train excursions available.
So no matter what time of year, or whatever the reason for your visit, we look forward to giving you a very warm welcome at Kilsby Cottage.
